Youth Ministry

VISION, MISSION, & VALUES

Our Vision: We desire to be a ministry that extends and applies Covenant Presbyterian Church’s vision of “Deep Roots, Wide Reach” to adolescent youth within their age and stage.

In a phraseGrowing Gospel Roots and Extending Gospel Reach in the Next Generation for the Glory of Christ.

Our Mission: We desire to equip our youth to answer the fundamental questions of adolescence as they are addressed and experienced within gospel-formed community.

  • Gospel Identity (Deep Roots)
    • Key Question: Who am I?
  • Gospel Community (Deep Roots)
    • Key Question: Where do I belong?
  • Gospel Trajectory (Wide Reach)
    • Key Questions: Do I matter? What’s my purpose?

Our Values: We are committed to and desire to exhibit the following values in the pursuit of realizing our vision and following our mission:

  • Relational: Our ministry seeks to love our youth faithfully by inundating their lives with caring believers and by facilitating their connection to the church.  Often, this means simply having fun together.  We desire to reach our youth through relationships so that they might in turn reach out relationally to the people God has providentially placed in their lives.
  • Gospel-driven: The content of the teaching and the context of our ministry is the gospel – the message that we are fully known by God (in all our sin) and, simultaneously, passionately loved by Him because of what Jesus has done for us in His life, death, and resurrection.  We believe that this gospel message is experienced primarily through God’s means of grace (Word, prayer, and sacrament), which provide the fundamental elements of our ministry.
  • Integrated: We desire our youth to enjoy the blessing of diverse relationships within the church. We desire them to grow into the gifts God has given them by serving in the church. Additionally, we see our ministry to be supportive of and supplemental to the primary discipleship context of the parental relationship.  We see ourselves as “coming alongside” parents in the discipleship process of their youth.  Overall, we desire to support and equip Covenant Church in the fulfillment of our baptismal vows to our youth and their parents

Sunday School

This is a time for us to gather, sing together and to study the Scriptures. We meet every Sunday morning in the Youth House at 9:45a.m.

D-Groups

D-Groups are small groups, divided by grade and gender, and led by at least two staff and volunteer ministry leaders. These groups gather for fellowship, accountability, encouragement, Bible study, and prayer.
  • Jr. High D-Groups meet on Wednesday evenings from 5:30pm-7:00pm at the Youth House.
  • Sr. High D-Groups meet on Wednesday evenings from 7:00pm-9:00pm at the Youth House.

Saturday Serve

This is a monthly opportunity for our ministry to serve alongside our sister church, New City Fellowship South, in St. Louis. This can include cleaning streets, beautifying lawns, or any other way we can be of service to our neighbors in the city. Bring a pair of work gloves and meet us in the church parking lot at 8:00 a.m. the second Saturday of every month!
