Volunteers, Children's Ministries

Background Checks

We live in an age in which we must take every step to promote the safe care of our covenant children. The child safety policy of Covenant Presbyterian Church requires that each full and part-time staff member, as well as volunteers who work with children and youth, submit to a criminal background check. In addition, all full and part-time staff as well as all volunteers who drive children and youth on behalf of the church are required to have their driving record reviewed. This policy has been designed to help safeguard our children, comfort parents and promote a biblical, nurturing environment for ministry. The leadership of Covenant Presbyterian Church request the cooperation of the adults in our church who must abide by the guidelines of this policy.

Background checks are completed by LexisNexis Risk and Information Analytics Group Inc., contracted by Group Publishing, Inc., publishers of Children's Ministry magazine as well as numerous other Christian educational resources, to assist churches in completing background checks.

All children and youth ministries volunteers as well as church staff must complete and sign the release form which will remain confidentially on file in the church office.

A copy of the completed background check will also be kept confidentially on file in the church office. Only members of the church's pastoral staff will be privilege to the information. If you desire, a copy of the completed background check will be hand delivered to you.
