End of the Year Picnic and Chapel: Our end of the year picnic and chapel will be on Friday, May 23rd. Chapel will take place from 11:00 to 11:40 with the picnic to follow. Following chapel the children will be dismissed to their parents to go to the picnic. We encourage you to bring your lunch and join us on the lawn in front of the Edwards House until 12:30 p.m. We will supply drinks and an ice cream treat!

Got Field Day Pictures? If you have any Field Day pictures I would love to get them for use in our next Pelican Post and for slideshows that we use to share with others about our school. If you could get these to me by Friday it would be GREATLY appreciated!

Summer Reading: With your child’s report card we will be sending a list of summer reading suggestions as well as required reading (one book) for children entering Second to Sixth Grades. Just to let you know, children will read (grades are those for the fall):
Second Grade: Any book in the Magic Treehouse series by Mary Pope Osborne.
Third Grade: Henry Huggins by Beverly Cleary
Fourth Grade: The Cricket in Times Square by George Selden
Fifth and Sixth Grades: Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH by Robert C. O’Brien.
If you would like a copy of the book just let us know and we will pass one along to you or you can use your own copy.

Calendar for 2008-2009 School Year: Attached to these Notes is the calendar for the 2008-2009 school year. Please make note of important dates including the back-to-school picnic and first day of school.

Soccer Registration Forms: Just a reminder that if you want to play soccer (or volleyball for girls 4th to 6th grade) in the fall with the Kirk your registration form is due in the school office by May 22nd or you may deliver it to Kirk of the Hills Day School by May 23rd. These deadlines are firm so get your form in early!

Jubalation Singers: Jubalation Singers of St. Louis is a Christian children’s community choir for students in grades 2-8 who want to grow in their Christian faith and minister to their communities through singing. It is directed by Valerie Tolliver, a certified music educator, and students from all denominations are welcome. To make an audition appointment or more information, check the web site: www.jubalationsingers.com or call Valerie Tolliver at 314-401-3246. A student at Covenant School is a member of Jubalation Singers.

Field Day Photos

Field Day Pictures Available!

Thanks to Dennis Baker and Shannon Hathaway there are many great photos that capture all the fun of Field Day 2008. To order prints go to www.shutterfly.com

The e-mail address to login is abboma@charter.net and the password is pelican. Once you log in click on “View all albums”. The pictures are arranged either by team or some other event. Due to the number of pictures taken we wanted to break them up so you could more quickly find the ones of interest to you.

Once in the site you can order a variety of items with the photos. One note of caution–since we are sharing the login with everyone, it is possible for you to delete pictures or entire albums. Be careful and enjoy.
