Summer Packet Overview
It is my hope that you are having a great summer! But while we are still in the heart (heat) of summer, we are all looking forward to the start of the 2008-2009 school year.
We have mailed you several pieces of information that you need to review (and respond to) in preparation for the upcoming school year. Please take time to carefully review this Head of School Notes along
with each of the pieces we enclosed with the packet.
The pieces were:
Student Information Sheet: Enclosed you will find your student’s information sheet. This sheet contains information regarding you and your child. Please take time to carefully review this sheet and update any information as necessary. In particular, please take time to provide us with updated emergency contact information as well as current immunization records. You may do this by simply writing on the sheet and dropping it by the school office or mailing it back to the school at the address at the bottom of this Notes, by emailing updated information to our
Administrative Assistant, Laurabeth Medlock, at lmedlock@cpcstl.org, or by calling Laurabeth at the school. Please take time to do this as soon as possible!
Welcome Back Picnic: You will find a flyer for our Welcome Back Picnic which is scheduled for Thursday evening, August 21. This is a great time for you to meet school families!
New Family Orientation: Prior to our Welcome Back Picnic we will have our New Family Orientation which will begin at 5:15 p.m. This is a great opportunity for our new families to get to know each other as well as learn more about the day-to-day activities of the school. Childcarewill be provided.
Above & Beyond Registration: For parents with children in Pre-Kindergarten or Kindergarten
you will find your Above & Beyond registration information. Above & Beyond is a supplemental program for children which meets twice each week (Wednesday and Friday) through the school year and is completely optional.
Clothing Guidelines: Just as a reminder we are enclosing the Clothing Guidelines for 2008-2009. Please remember that there are some changes to the guidelines for this year including a requirement for students in grades 1 to 6 to wear “uniform style” pants. If you have any questions regarding these guidelines please call the school office.
School Supply List: Your student’s school supply list is enclosed.
Class Rosters: Your child’s class roster is enclosed. We are excited that our enrollment for the
2008-2009 school year is up nearly 50 percent! An updated roster and school directory will be
provided to you after the beginning of the school year.
Music CD Enclosed you will also find a CD that has been produced to help our Covenant students recognize and memorize the great hymns of the faith. While we sing a wide variety of music at Covenant, we do believe that these hymns enrich our understanding of who God is. We pray that this CD will be a blessing to you.
Summer Reading: Just a reminder that children in grades Second through Sxith have a summer
reading assignment as shown below:
• Second Grade: Any book in the Magic Treehouse series by Mary Pope Osborne.
• Third Grade: Henry Huggins by Beverly Cleary
• Fourth Grade: The Cricket in Times Square by George Selden
• Fifth and Sixth Grades: Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH by Robert C. O’Brien.
If you would like a copy of the book just let us know and we will pass one along to you or you can use your own copy.
Calendar for 2008-2009 School Year: Enclosed is the calendar for the 2008-2009 school year.
The calendar has not changed, we are just sending it along for your convenience. Please make
note of important dates including the back-to-school picnic and first day of school.
